The best wine I’ve tasted in my life!

I LOVE wine. I must have tasted over 50 different types, and been on over 10 wine tours. But this wine tasting experience in Florence was the best so far! We were offered 7 different types of wine, all Chianti varieties. They were exquisite…the combination of a light-bodied wine with notable tannins and a savory flavor blew me away. I’d say my favorite was the red Chianti Classico.

Amazing organization on the Florence Wine Tour

This Chianti wine tour from Florence was sooo comfortable and well-organized! A modern bus picked us up, and it had absolutely everything: Wi-Fi, power sockets, reclining seats, a bathroom, etc. It was such a comfortable journey! And I have long legs, so that’s saying something. Plus, the views from the bus were stunning…I’ve never seen anywhere as beautiful as Tuscany.

Wine Tasting Florence Experience

START YOUR TUSCAN ADVENTURE

Begin your Florence Wine Tour by meeting your guide near Piazzale Montelungo - it’s a 5 to 10-minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station. Look for a staff member holding a Ciaoflorence clipboard and wearing a fuchsia Ciaoflorence jacket. Then the tour can start!

EXPLORE A TRADITIONAL TUSCAN WINERIES

Your first stop is a charming, traditional winery in the heart of the vineyards. You’ll be welcomed by its owners and taste Tuscan delicacies: home-produced olive oil, delicious snacks, and the renowned red wine from the Chianti region. The wines paired with the appetizers make for a delightful combination. Next up is a guided tour of the wine cellar. Your guide will explain all the details of the winemaking process and offer even more wine tastings. That way, you’ll understand all the nuanced differences in taste and texture between different wine varieties.

CONTINUE TOUR TO ANOTHER WINERY

The tour continues to the second winery, a delightful estate surrounded by rolling hills, olive trees, and vineyards. Here, a local wine producer will explain all the secrets and specifications of their wine preparation, which will be accompanied by a traditional, rich wine tasting. You’ll also learn which wines pair best with which regional products; what variant goes best with spaghetti bolognese? Which cheese goes well with their dry reds? What type of wine should be used alongside a salad? Your guide will teach you everything about the art of wine.

ENJOY FREE TIME & ADMIRE THE TUSCAN COUNTRYSIDE

After the winery tours, you’ll have some free time. Take some photos of the gorgeous Chianti hills and vineyards. Tuscany is famous for its natural beauty, and exploring the region’s stunning landscape will truly relax you. You can even buy a bottle (or two) of wine and enjoy it while admiring the gorgeous nature surrounding you.

Did you know that Chianti was originally a white wine?

The Chianti wine, a highlight of this tour, is a light-bodied red wine. Yet, sources from as early as the 13th century testify to the high quality of the white grapes used to make Chianti wine. However, as time wore on, the Sangiovese grape began to be included in a higher and higher ratio. Soon, Chianti wines were characterized by their deep, rich red color.
