Great guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery!
We had a great time at the Uffizi Gallery, all thanks to our guide. He showed us all the top works, and because we were in a private group, he took us to see anything else we wanted. We had some older family members in our group, so he adjusted to their tempo. There was a huge line at the entrance, but we didn't have to wait. We finished at the terrace and had coffee with a view!
Amazing guide & no waiting in lines!
I very much recommend this tour! I'm not a huge lover of art, but our guide was very good at storytelling so I actually enjoyed myself a lot. There was a lot to see so it was a lot better experience overall to have someone take us around. One of the highlights of my visit was seeing Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" and "Primavera" up close. Also, get these tickets to save time because the lines out front were huge!

CENTURIES WORTH OF ART
See paintings all the way from the 13th to the 20th century! The gallery also showcases lots of sculptures, furnishings, jewelry, clothes and footwear, books and carriages, as well as items of everyday use. All of this is housed within another work of art – the museum itself. It is a great example of architecture from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
BOTTICELLI'S MASTERPIECE
See Botticelli's masterpiece, the Birth of Venus, up close. This 15th-century painting shows the goddess of love arriving on Cyprus, blown there by the winds. She is portrayed standing on a giant scallop shell as if she were perfect as a pearl.
FROM AN OFFICE TO AN ART GALLERY
The word "uffizi" means offices. Cosimo I de' Medici commissioned the construction of a palace in the 16th century, with an administrative part. Later, the building housed art collected by the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. Art collected by the Medici was given to the Lorraine family with a promise that they would always stay in Florence. Then in 1769, it was opened to the public as a museum.

The last of the Medici
The collections you can find in the Uffizi Gallery were collected over the course of many years by the ruling families. One of them was the famous Medici family. They ruled Florence and Tuscany from the 15th to the 18th centuries and are known for their passion for arts and building. Many consider them the greatest patrons of the arts in the West.
The gallery was opened to the public thanks to Anna Maria Luisa, the last of the Medici family. In 1737, she decided to leave these collections to the city of Florence. She wanted them to remain in the city, "for the use of Public and to attract the curiosity of Foreigners".
Just across the river, the Pitti Palace was the main residence of the Medici family, while the Boboli Gardens behind it served as their private green retreat. Designed in the 16th century, these gardens became a model for royal gardens across Europe. You can book your Pitti Palace ticket and cover the Boboli Gardens entrance fee in advance to enjoy priority access.
